Susan Froemke, Filmmaker
Susan Froemke is a non-fiction filmmaker with over thirty documentary films to her credit from the classic Grey Gardens (1976) to Lalee’s Kin (2001), an HBO film on poverty that was nominated for an Academy Award, to Wagner’s Dream (2012), which opened theatrically in the US and aired on PBS. Most recently, Froemke co-directed Escape Fire: The Fight To Rescue American Healthcare, with Matthew Heineman, which premiered at Sundance and was broadcast on CNN Films in 2013.(more…)
Sameer Bansilal, MD, MS
Dr. Bansilal is the medical lead for the Grenada Heart Project, the American Heart Association Prevention Center at Mount Sinai, and the Polypill Program in the United States. His research interests include the evaluation of innovative strategies and therapies for coronary disease and diabetes in global populations. Dr. Bansilal holds a master’s degree in Clinical Research from Mount Sinai-NYU and has completed the Program in Clinical Effectiveness at the Harvard School of Public Health.
Rajesh Vedanthan, MD, MPH
Dr. Vedanthan is Assistant Professor in Medicine (Cardiology) at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. His areas of research interest are global cardiology, global health delivery, capacity building, and the intersection of health and development. In addition to his hospital practice, he treats ambulatory patients with a broad spectrum of cardiac conditions. Dr. Vendanthan holds a master’s degree in Public Health from UC Berkeley and a medical degree from UC San Francisco and has a degree in Human Sciences at Oxford University.
In 2010, Marilyn joined Dr. Fuster’s team focusing on global projects in Grenada and Colombia. She has worked closely with Dr. Fuster at the American Heart Association and the World Heart Federation (WHF). She has also served as the Executive Director and Director of Science for the World Heart and Stroke Forum, the Treasurer of WHF, health care consultant for Hunn Associates, and administrator of the Kentfield Hospital Corporation.
Isabel has worked with the SHE (Science, Health and Education) Foundation as Head of Pedagogical department. She has driven and supervised the implementation of Dr. Fuster’s heart program in Spain, Colombia, Mexico, and the United States, responsible for the creation of teaching materials, work methodology, teacher training, and institutional relations in the area of education public adminstration.
